Capillary Tube
The Capillary Tube is one of the most widely used throttling devices in refrigeration and air conditioning systems. It is a precision-engineered copper tube with a very small internal diameter, typically ranging from 0.5 mm to 2.28 mm (0.020–0.09 inches). To save space, the tube is manufactured in long lengths and coiled into compact turns without affecting performance.
In refrigeration cycles, the capillary tube plays a critical role by controlling refrigerant flow between the condenser and the evaporator. As a fixed orifice device, it reduces the pressure of liquid refrigerant from the high-pressure side to the low-pressure side of the system, enabling efficient cooling.
